Seniors Taylor Owens, Hamner Allen, and John Bradley Seymer, along with junior James Parker have been the first class to start and finish their careers with the Pickens Academy golf team. The school had a team in the past, but had become defunct until the school, along with these four players, decided they would help get the sport started again at PA. While there were growing pains initially, the players think the sport has come a long way during the last four years.
“The first year was pretty rough, but every year I feel like we improved,” Owens said. “The biggest gap, I’d say, was between 10th grade and 11th grade year. I feel like that year we got a lot better and we placed a lot better in the state tournament.”
