Aliceville’s Jamar Hamilton signed his letter of intent to play basketball for Coastal Alabama Community College on Wednesday afternoon. The senior helped lead the Yellow Jackets to their first Final Four in 25 years and is the second member of the basketball team to sign a college scholarship this year.

Coastal Alabama head coach William Brown had planned on becoming the Aliceville head coach for the 2016-17 basketball season before getting an offer at the collegiate level. Hamilton said that he and other Yellow Jacket players had been close with the coach during his time teaching at Aliceville High School.

“He was going to be the coach for us my junior year, but he ended up going to the collegiate level,” Hamilton said. “When he left, he had a talk with me and Ed (Weston) and said that he was going to offer us scholarships and stuff, so I ended up choosing his school.”
