Reform City Council

The Reform City Council made decisions regarding two properties in the city at the council’s first meeting this month, held August 7. Mayor Bennie Harton and the city’s building inspector went to a mobile home which had been so neglected, “We were afraid to go in,” Harton told the council. “The door was open, but trees had grown to the door so, we really couldn’t enter the building.”

During the last couple of city council meetings, Reform city council members have had zoning issues brought to their attention. One of them, brought to the council on May 15, was from Dearl Hughes, who wanted to rezone a strip of land currently zoned as residential, but having commercial properties on either side of it.

At their bi-monthly meeting on April 17, the Reform City Council was approached by Mayor Bennie Harton in his desire to contribute to the city schools.

The Alabama Department of Transportation’s (ALDOT) District Administrator, Jonathan Anderson, spoke to the Reform City Council at their regular meeting on Apr. 3. regarding the intersection of State Road 17 and U.S. Highway 82.
