Aliceville Museum

The Aliceville annual Salute to Veterans Luncheon will be held in the Aliceville Museum Events Room located at 104 Broad Street, NE in Aliceville at 11:30 am on Tuesday, November 12. Tickets are $10.00 each. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended and may be made by calling the Museum at 205-373-2363. Lunch, which is being catered by Angie’s Place Restaurant of Aliceville, will be served starting at 11:30, and the program will begin at noon.

Wolfgang Lodman visited the Aliceville Museum recently with the desire of tracing his late father's path from Germany to Aliceville, where he spent time in the 1940s during the World War II POW camps. His father, Peter Klaus Lodman arrived in Aliceville on June 2, 1943 and Lodman said he believed that his dad was one of the first to arrive here in Aliceville. Lodman arrived in New York on a cargo ship, just as his father had came over to the United States and then took the train from New York to Tuscaloosa, where he then rented a car to get from Tuscaloosa to Aliceville.

Residents of Pickens County had the opportunity to experience a treat on Thursday, April 11th at the Aliceville Museum. Bradford Freeman, a 92-year-old former member of ‘The Easy Company ‘of The Band of Brothers, that parachuted in before D-Day on the beaches of Normandy.

To celebrate Black History Month, the Aliceville Museum is hosting a program by Dr. Derryn E. Moten, Professor and Chair of the Department of History and Political Science at Alabama State University, on Thursday, February 7 at 6:00 p.m. in the Museum’s Events Room at 104 Broad Street NE in Aliceville.

One of Shakespeare’s most popular romantic comedies, “As You Like It,” will be presented by the world renowned Alabama Shakespeare Festival (ASF) at the Aliceville Entertainment Complex, 210 Broad Street NE, on Thursday, January 10. There will be two performances. The first will be at 9:30 am for all high school juniors and seniors attending school, or being home schooled in Pickens County.  Another performance at 7:00pm will be for the general public.  Admission to both performances will be free of charge.

The Aliceville Museum is presenting a traveling exhibit dedicated to Alabama’s 200th Bicentennial birthday. Alabama became the nation’s 22nd state on December 14, 1819. This informative exhibition is traveling to all 67 Alabama counties through December 2019 and will only be in Pickens County July 14 – July 28, 2018.

For the last four years, the Aliceville Museum’s annual fundraiser gala has been one of the social highlights for west-central Alabama. This year’s event promises to be the best yet with a Louisiana-style Crawfish Boil!  The gala will be held from 7:00 to 11:00 pm on Saturday, June 2 in the Museum's Events Room and Courtyard.
